IP Protection Brexit 27

Preparing your IP for an

Uncertain Brexit

With millions of businesses across the UK and EU heading towards an uncertain Brexit, one critical issue has continued to provoke industry-wide concern:

Intellectual property. More specifically - trademarks and design rights.

Up until October 31st (or December 31st 2020 if a transitional arrangement is agreed) all EU and UK businesses will continue to receive trademark and design rights protection across the European Union, with attorneys able to freely represent clients across the EU.

With Brexit on the horizon, this is all about to change, and the intellectual property system is set to undergo fundamental alterations.

The most crucial change will be the management of EU IP rights, as the UK will no longer be part of European trademarks and design registration systems.
